This morning's sunrise keeping my coffee warm 😊

Hello and Welcome to Thanksgiving 😊

I'd like to start by wishing everyone a Happy Thanksgiving!!!

and to say that I'm super thankful for you taking the time out of your day, to read my musings and meanderings...I truly appreciate You 💗

So, this morning, as I was watching the sunrise and thinking how much I have to be thankful for…. I also thought about how easy it is to sometimes lose sight of those things. Life is so precious; I don’t want to spend it fixating on what I don’t have or can’t do…. instead, I’m choosing to work with what I do have, and what I can do.

I was even thankful for others on the beach this morning!!!!! As you may be aware, I cherish my early morning solitude, and love to have my own sandy sanctuary - but this morning was so incredibly beautiful, I was absolutely delighted that so many others got to share this precious moment in time. It made me so happy to think about everyone having their very own personal sunrise moment…. a pause in their lives to see the beauty and hope that each new day brings.

As you know I like to write in my journal every day, and you may remember how I like to keep the back pages for my "Thankful List". This is space where I like to spend a few minutes every day writing down what I'm thankful for. Somedays, it may only be one thing that's at the forefront of my mind.... other days, the list gets pretty lengthy (I tend to get carried away sometimes.... you may have noticed 😄)

By writing down what I'm thankful for, not only acknowledges what I’m thankful for at that particular moment in time, but it also gives me a wonderful visual to look back on, when I’m feeling down…. you know those days, when you feel like the universe is conspiring against you (okay – perhaps a tad dramatic!). When things go wrong, it’s easy for us to spiral into self-pity….and those “pity parties” that only serve to fuel our unhappiness and lack of self-worth. Spending a few minutes looking through the pages of the things I’m thankful for, fills me with a renewed sense of how much I have in my life to be grateful for.

My list is random and sometimes there are repeats, but that’s okay…. I actually think that’s kind of cool (I also refuse to get hung up on the thought, that I’m getting old, and my memory sucks– it was never that great in the first place!) It contains people, places, sights, sounds, smells, emotions…. memories, things that make me feel hopeful….and things that just plain make me smile 😊

Even in our darkest of days, there is always something we can be thankful for…. but sometimes we need a “wee reminder” (yes, "wee” is a Scottish word for small), and that’s when my thankful pages help me put things back into perspective.

This year, one of the things I’m most thankful for is the continued love and support of my family and friends…those that believed in me, that have helped me (even when they didn’t realize it) …and that put up with my sometimes slightly peculiar ways. Thank You!!!!

One of the other things that I’m super thankful for this year, is for the new friends that found their way into our lives, many were guests that stayed at the inn over the summer and Fall, the phenomenal ladies that attended our retreat, and those we met here in our Hatteras village home – Some of whom have quickly become extremely special friends…….we love you, and thank you.

I have to mention that there are also a couple friends that I don’t see anymore as they live on distant shores, and we often don't communicate for ages, but I know they are always there for me– and I’m always here for them……you are truly the Best 🥰

JB and I are so thankful that we found our Hatteras home.....To live in such a beautiful place, with such incredible people is a blessing we appreciate every day.

For now, I’m off to spend a wonderfully lazy day with JB, Bailey, Bodie and Pumpkin (the kids aren’t at home - Kaseen is working in LA and will hang out with her friends and Hamish the cat, and Lloyd is up in Ashville for a couple of days before heading back to Wilmington)…..and contemplate putting up the Christmas decorations around the inn, which we’ll hopefully begin this weekend.

So, please have a Happy Thanksgiving wherever you are……I'm thankful for You 🙏

Until next time,

Take care, Stay Safe...... and maybe think about starting your own daily "Thankful List"

Thanksgiving Hugs,

Pam 🥰

Hatteras used to be my home away from home for over 35 years and I missed it so much, so to see your pics and inspiring comments makes me smile! I will get back soon and definitely stay with you. So glad you found our Hatteras home!
