Good Morning and Welcome to Fabulous Friday 😊
I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving - I'm sure there will be a few cases of "recovery" from Thanksgiving overindulgence....
What can I say, it's one of those wonderful days, when we think there are zero calories in the food and drink we consume - a guilt free splurge (well that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it 😉).
This morning I decided to begin my day on the front porch...
Although my Hatteras beach is my fave place to watch the sunrise, this morning I opted for the comfort of a squishy chair on the front porch of the inn.
Does it have a spectacular view? Not really, the front of the inn is where our car park is, and is set back from NC12 (our road lifeline up the islands and over to the mainland). If I wanted a "natural view", I could sit on one of our back decks that overlook the grounds of the inn, which for the most part are enclosed by thick maritime vegetation.

But there’s something to be said about sitting on the front porch that is just wonderful. So, I swapped my thermos mug for my Winnie the Pooh mu, my superlight puffy blanket for a soft, fleecy one…. but “my space” elements remain the same – hot coffee, blanket, journal and pen and phone (for taking photos only, no checking messages, perusing social media or texting!)

Sitting in silence, I could still hear the ocean (well the beach is only a 3-minute walk from where I’m sitting). This morning the crashing waves were the background soundtrack to the wind blowing through the trees, the flapping of the flags on either side of our entrance steps, the regular footsteps of an early morning jogger and the occasional sound of a car heading for the ferry to Ocracoke - It was just a different kind of beauty……but most definitely “beauty” all the same.
Now, there are some great bonuses to spending my “me time” on the front porch – I can get infinite refills of hot coffee from the inn’s kitchen any time I want, if I’m chilly I can grab another blanket, if I want to read – I can fetch a book from my little library, and….as the porch has a roof, I’m not quite as open to the elements, as I would be on the beach (a huge bonus if it’s raining, I can stay dry, but be out in the fresh air)...and I get to hang out with Pumpkin Pie Puss

As I’ve mentioned before, once you have the elements you need to make you “comfortable”, the things that make you happy (for me, its coffee, blanket and journal/pen), then you can adapt to be in “your space” any time. I find that when I have these things, I can make wherever I am a little “sanctuary”, allowing me to get into a better frame of mind – I can look through a lens of inspiration and find something positive…I can look for the hidden beauty.

The point I'd like to make, is that you don't need to have a spectacular view to feel good, to see beauty and feel positive.....but sometimes you do have to make the effort.
And for me, some of my most creative and positive thoughts, have been in the most unlikely of places....🥰

Until next time,
Take care, Stay Safe....and take sometime to find your very own personal "sanctuary" space today.
Hugs,
Pam
