Wintry Sunrise on my Hatteras Beach

Good Morning and Welcome to Friday 😊

So yesterday, it was walking on the beach with the dogs in T-shirt and shorts, barefoot in the sand and breaking waves…. this morning – a little more wintry.

Yesterday at Ramp 49

Walking in the dark to the beach this morning, there was definitely a bite to the northerly wind. But no worries, I had my puffy jacket, cozy Uggs, my blanket in my backpack….and I was looking forward to my time on the beach.

Some would say there was no spectacular sunrise this morning, I, on the other hand think every sunrise is spectacular – Maybe it wasn’t a “classic”, bright shining sun, beautifully appearing on the horizon with its rays of light extending over the ocean and up into the heavens. For me it was still spectacular - the softer, muted colors in the sky, the light breaking through the clouds and playing on the ocean waves… showcasing my beautiful Atlantic.

Sitting on my beach, wrapped in coziness and drinking my coffee, my mind turned to my “Wonderful Winter Adventures” ….and my “Winter Things To Do List”. I thought I would fun share it with you:

  • Time to pull out my winter wardrobe – fleecy sweatshirts, comfy PJs, puffy jackets, my Ugg collection of boots and slippers etc.

  • Stock up on logs for the firepit

  • Buy ingredients to make smores

  • Replenish my supply of hot chocolate

  • Start thinking about how many things I can put pumpkin spice into

  • Make sure I have freshly laundered fluffy throw blankets all over the inn

  • Write some lengthy "snail mail" letters to loved ones

  • List the TV shows and movies that I didn’t have any time to watch this year (as we were a tad busy getting the inn up and running), so I have a winter watchlist to choose from

  • Bring my huge scrabble board down to the main lounge, so I can sit in front of the fire with a glass of red wine, a yummy bar of chocolate…and play the night away

  • Unpack the flannel sheets, launder them, and get them on the bed (whilst I love my crisp white sheets in the warm weather, as the winter turns colder, my snuggly flannel sheets are the absolute best!)

  • Bake some decadent cookies

  • Bring out the warm winter “comfort food” recipes (homemade soup, chili, lasagna, meatloaf, chicken pot pie, sticky toffee pudding, apple pie, warm skillet cookies with ice cream…. hmmm this is making me too hungry)

  • Eat a dinner by candlelight

  • Plan a bonfire night on the beach

  • Create a winter playlist of your fave music

  • Try a new craft (I’m learning to make candles)

  • One of my particular favorites…. a guilt free afternoon snuggled on a comfy chair/sofa with a blankie, hot chocolate and no technology - just peace and quiet and a big pile of books and magazines that I’ve been meaning to read for ages

Loving my winter Scrabble by the fire

My Winter To do List goes on, but I need to get this post out…😉

There are so many things we can do in the winter to make it much more enjoyable. We should relish every season and the magic it brings, the opportunities to do some things you wouldn’t do in warmer weather. Have you got a list? If not – spend some time this weekend thinking what would be on your list…once you begin, it’s amazing how many things there are to do.

And now, I’m embracing my Atlantic Winter - putting on my puffy jacket and Uggs… and heading off to stock up on some of my winter essentials.

Until next time...

Take care, Stay Safe and Think about what might be on your "winter to do list"...Have fun!

Hugs,

Pam
