Good Morning and Happy Hump Day 😊
So, I know you were expecting a pretty sunrise...but I don't want to be too predictable😉, so thought I would post my latest musing, which I wrote a few nights ago, after a walk on the beach in the moonlight - What a beautiful and magical sight....
Last night I walked barefoot, under the silent stars
my footsteps disappearing, as the cool waters claimed them
With the moonlight showing me the way…
I surrendered to the night, with reckless abandon
“You are a child of the seas”, whispered my ocean
by Pam Buchholz
Whilst walking on the beach I was very aware of my heightened senses.... the surf sounded louder than usual, the moon brighter and the sand cooler beneath my feet. It was so easy to just be in the moment - to revel in the magnificence the night had brought to the beach.
This mini adventure on the beach, was completely unplanned, a spur of the moment decision...and reminded me how often, some of the best times that I have, are impromptu last-minute ideas (although sometimes JB isn't quite as keen on some of my crazier suggestions!).
I can be a bit of a creature of habit.... up early every morning, first coffee with JB, the pups and Pumpkin the cat, then off for my walk to the beach where I'll have my second mug of coffee whilst watching the sunrise and writing in my journal. Then it's back to the inn for another coffee and some breakfast, before grabbing another coffee and starting to work (and yes, I drink far too much coffee🤪)

So, it does seem a little at odds with my "creature of habit" mornings, that I love spontaneity.... although I think this is more related to my restless and adventurous - which so often takes the driver’s seat in my life!
The duality of my personality traits has always intrigued me. For someone who can be so "OCD'ish" (my poor husband and son will attest to this,) and analytical, as evidenced in my chosen career (cardiovascular physiologist, where facts, figures and accuracy were of paramount importance), I also have an overwhelming need to be free….to travel, to explore, to be creative (although this isn’t always pretty if using paint!) to participate in adrenaline surging sports – to always be looking for my next adventure…
There is a theory that people are either left-brained or right-brained, meaning that one side of their brain is dominant. If you’re mostly analytical and methodical in your thinking, you’re said to be left-brained. If you tend to be more creative or artistic, you’re thought to be right-brained.

LEFT BRAIN RIGHT BRAIN
Analytical Creative
Logical Emotional
Training Imagination
Facts Intuition
Thinking in words Visualization of Feelings
Planner Free flow
Now, some people think they are clearly dominant in one side of their brain and will describe themselves as such.
I, on the other hand, feel a little more contradicted - having functioned much of the time in my left brain, particularly in my previous career…these days I seem to be gravitating much more toward my right brain traits. Whilst I truly appreciate being logical, analytical and strategic…. I love that I am creative and intuitive – and yes, a tad emotional.
So, I guess I’ll always be a contradiction to convention…. So, what’s new???
I’m absolutely fine with this, and will continue to have as many adventures as possible
– What about you?
When was the last time you did something completely spontaneous?

Until next time...
Take care, Stay Safe and
Hugs,
Pam

I, like you, are a bit of a contradiction. I work with policy and legal stuff so my left brain is usually leading me. However, when my right brain comes to the front, I need to paint, or write. At those times I cannot be stopped! Until I do. Its kinda like a faucet.. I am nor hugely spontaneous but am working on being more that way.
