Pam's Daily Wave...

Good Morning.....and Welcome to Terrific Tuesday😊

Do you ever have those moments when a certain taste or smell transports you back in time? Having spent so much time on, or near the beach, until I was thirty years old, when I moved away from my hometown, the smell and taste of salty air evokes memories easily for me.

Memories can be extremely powerful....which is absolutely awesome when the memory is a happy one, it can make you laugh, smile and feel loved - but memories can also stir your emotions in a negative way. Remembering something that made you unhappy, or an event that you regret, can cause you emotional distress.

We must remember that these things are in the past and cannot be changed, it's impossible to change an outcome that has already happened - What we can do, is to use the information from that particular memory as a "lesson learned". If you've read my earlier blogs, you know that I have used this particular phrase before. I think it is great description for how you can turn a negative experience into a positive outcome....you "learned" something - how not to deal with a situation a particular way, how to be stronger, how to be more appreciative, how to be more understanding, how to be more empathetic, how to listen more carefully, how to think before you act (this is one I'm definitely still working on)....I could go on, but I think you get the picture.

Memories can be used to ensure we make wiser, more informed decisions, hence the phrase "lessons learned". It's super important that we don't get caught up in the "would've, should've, could've's" - this can easily lead to a vicious circle of self loathing, regret or blaming yourself for past mistakes ( I used to be really, really good at this one!!!).....instead remember you have become much wiser , more thoughtful and much more informed 😊

Apologies for the delay in posting this morning.....I stayed a bit longer than I meant to on the beach watching the sunrise - it was such a beautiful morning, the air so fresh pure and the pelicans flying.
