Pam's Daily Wave

ree

Good Morning 😊

Today's pearl of positivity comes to you from the pen of Ralph Waldo Emerson...

Written sometime between 1803 and 1882, these words are timeless, and, in the crazy world in which we live today, are definitely worth your consideration. It's so easy to carry all the burdens of yesterday into your new day - mistakes you've made, poor decisions you took, the dreaded "could've, would've, should've's"...but those things are already in the past, a past we can't change.

I used to spend (waste!) a considerable amount of time in my day, beating myself up over my errors from the previous day, week, month...even years. Sometimes to the point at times that it would consume me, and I would forget to "live" that day. What an incredible waste of precious time....time I would never get back. It took me too long to realize that I needed to shift my focus - that the negative happenings in my life, should be treated as "lessons learned".

Whilst working in clinical research, we would often review a project on its completion, to see what we could have done better, more efficiently, with less errors, so we would improve our planning for the next time - or if something went particularly well, how we could carry that idea forward to another project to put it on a path to success - all "lessons learned".

So, with this in mind, I started applying this "lessons learned" philosophy to my life....and what a turnaround that caused. Instead of continuing to beat myself up, I try to learn from my perceived errors, and move on in the hope that I will improve my future.

Not continually analyzing every poor decision I've ever made, over and over and over again, freed up my days to concentrate on living in the present....seeing the beauty that surrounds me every day, enjoying the company of those that I meet every day and taking the time to really live and love...💗

I hope you have a wonderfully beautiful day!

Until next time,

Take care, Stay safe...and live your best life

Pam 😊

PS. Just in case the writing is difficult to see on my pic...

Write it on your heart that every day is the best day in the year. He is rich who owns the day, and no one owns the day who allows it to be invaded with fret and anxiety. Finish every day and be done with it. You have done what you could. Some blunders and absurdities, no doubt crept in. Forget them as soon as you can, tomorrow is a new day; begin it well and serenely, with too high a spirit to be cumbered with your old nonsense. This new day is too dear, with its hopes and invitations, to waste a moment on the yesterdays

Thanks, Pam. Like you, I got smarter. Worry is the opposite of faith, therefore it must be wrong. So, I decided, like Waldo, not to let worry steal my joy. God gave us free will. We may choose our mood if we trust Him.
