Pam's Daily Wave...

Good Morning and It's a big Hello to Tuesday 😊

So, this is not the post I intended for this morning, but the sunrise was so perfect....I just had to share it with you.

Yes, I know it was the camera lens (on my old phone!), displaying the light the way it sees and interprets it - but it got me thinking about the way we "look" at things. I remembered the old saying "looking through rose tinted spectacles" (although most say "glasses" instead of "spectacles"....I just like the sound of the word spectacles, and it pays a little homage to the fact that this particular idiom can be traced way back to the 1840's). This refers to when people are looking on the bright side of things - the positive in any situation.

There are so many different lenses we can look through apart from the rose tinted one - sometimes we need to use magnification to see the crucial details, other times, we may need to distance ourselves for a hurtful situation or be able to see "the grand plan".

How we "view" things in our world can make a vast difference....

Now, no worries, I'm not going to go all "Kumbaya" on you, saying that we should always see the world through our "happy" view all the time - What I'm proposing is using our ability to change the lens to suit the situation, and our needs - not always looking at the world through the same one.

For example, the magnified lens is awesome for intricate, detailed or delicate tasks, but can also easily blow things out of proportion, making a big deal out of sometimes relatively minor issues, we can become overly critical, and "judgy".

On the other hand, whilst seeing the distanced "big picture" gives us the ability to "see" the overarching idea, vision or story, which can be awesome for planning purposes, and creating enthusiasm, not only for ourselves but for others too. It can also cause its own set of problems...we can become so focused on the big picture, that we completely miss the critical details that make the project possible, we are so distanced that we miss the cry for help or the incredible beauty in something small and seemingly insignificant.

Not only should we try to look at things through our own different lenses, we should also remember that as human beings, we all have our own unique perspectives (lenses), and it's always worth considering another's perspective - that they may be seeing things in a completely different way....don't jump to the conclusion that they are obviously wrong - they may just be using a different lens on the situation, one that perhaps we should consider.

As humans, we are incredibly fortunate that we can view things through many different lenses...this gives us an amazing ability to adapt, see things more clearly, and make the best out of any given situation....Do you ever stop to consider the lens you're looking through? Give it a try...it may just open up a whole new world 💗

Until next time...

Take care, Stay Safe and

Hugs,

Pam
